What if our test of twext succeeds? How do we organize? First, we'd need competent management to execute a good strategy. Below is one dream for a strategy, but I have no idea if it's any good or not. What do you think?

One way to organize, promote and distribute twext could be via network marketing. Maybe with a catch: we invest a share of our earnings into a literacy program like Room to Read.

read.fm members           %  you  /||\  me  %
                                 / || \
members you bring      %   ->   /  ||  \
                               /   ||   \
members they bring  %   ->    /    ||    \
                                   \/
more members can join <- we invest in literacy

So the top of our pyramid could fund the bottom, and we could help some more people learn to read, while we help ourselves learn to read more. In theory, the only way our pyramid could die is when we stop learning language.

But network marketing can suck in so many ways:

  • sociopaths above can exploit suckers below
  • sales pitching to family and friends, yuck!
  • maybe it's more hassle than it's worth?

Still, good affiliate marketing might offer benefits:

  • reward members who produce language learning
  • attract more human capital with less cash
  • make a good deal to induce participation
  • make more room to read

This is all just silly to talk about before:

  • twext even proves useful to language learners
  • twext gets any competent management
  • twext proves to make any money

So this is not a plan. It's just an idea out there. By November 2009, we should know a little more. Anyway, who are we?

If more people learn to read, more people can use twext to learn more language. It's just an idea to think about while we test twext.
